Blue Dragonfly Tetsubin Iron Teapot Set
In Japan, the dragonfly is symbolic of success and happiness. Our blue dragonfly tetsubin iron teapot set consists of a teapot, trivet and 2 teacups. The gentle blue color on black cast iron is absolutely breathtaking! Two dragonflies hold the black handle on the top of the square teapot, two dragonflies grace the top of trivet and sides of teacups. The inner surface of the teapot features a coating of black enamel to help prevent the development of rust. The teapot includes a stainless steel infuser tea strainer and holds approximately .6 liters / 20 fluid ounces, measures approximately 4 3/4" square with 2" spout and 6" in total height. The trivet measures approximately 5 5/8" square with a 2" square hole in middle. Each teacup holds approximately 4 fluid ounces, measures 2 ¾" in diameter and 2" in height. Simply spoon loose tea leaves into the infuser and pour hot water into the teapot. Cover and allow brewing for 3 to 5 minutes and enjoy! Cast iron retains the heat well for your next serving. Makes a great gift and comes beautifully boxed!

Bamboo Tetsubin Iron Tea Pot
Tetsubin or cast iron tea pots were originally used to boil water or placed over a hearth to provide heat and humidity during cold weather. During the mid 19th century as infused tea drinking became more popular, the tetsubin evolved from being a kitchen item to a status symbol and became elaborately decorated with high relief designs. Today, tetsubin teapots are not used to boil water or placed on the stove, but is used only for brewing and serving tea. Tetsubin teapots enhance the flavor of tea and are preferred by all masters of tea ceremonies.

Our beautiful bamboo tetsubin holds approximately .6 liters / 20 fluid ounces and measures approximately 6 1/2" in diameter and 6" in total height. The inner surface of of the teapot features a coating of black enamel to help prevent the development of rust and also includes a stainless steel infuser tea strainer! Our tetsubin iron teapot is surrounded with detailed relief's of bamboo canes, a pine tee and a cherry blossom tree which also graces the top of the lid.
